ASPIRE TO INSPIRE

I hope everyone is having a fabulous day so far! My never ending work in progress makes me have a go-getter attitude every single day!  Personal stories are easier to relate to than principles, and people love to hear them. Lately I have been watching a very interesting series “Hollywood Heights” a story about a smart, shy and independent high school senior girl (Loren) who has ambitions of being a songwriter and secretly sends her song lyrics to her celebrity crush, rock superstar Eddie Duran. Her wildest dreams come true when she wins a song writing competition sponsored by Eddie. Eddie sees beyond her potential as a songwriter and gives her a first break as a singer, and when the truth about his less-than-faithful girlfriend Chloe is revealed, Eddie and Loren's friendship blossoms.

Hash!!! Let me stop right there, I will instead allow series lovers to get this movie and watch it!

I made a promise to myself that I will do a review for this series after watching the final episode, but after attending this morning mind-speak session, a monthly business networking event organized by rich Management and by the way, it’s a free to attend gig, I just couldn’t wait!

I had to get a quiet spot where I will enjoy my wine, think and just write my thoughts! Cedars restaurant is my fave! Works for me anytime, any day J. I knew about Cedars through Ambassador Yvonne Khamati, a frequent customer here. So when I visited first time, I loved the ambiance, food, wine, quietness. Am not a party girl, I love peaceful and quiet surroundings, reason why Cedars has  always been my first wine and dine eat out choice of restaurant.

I noticed a lot of people walking in two’s, a bit of unusual at Cedars as it’s known for business meetings. I asked their supervisor if there was a function going on and he assured me none that he knew. So he directed me to my corner spot and ordered a glass of wine. Voila! Deal done, there I was, settled just minding my own business.

So here goes..

Today’s session was with National oil CEO Sumayya Athmani, a soft spoken high achiever who reminded us that the destiny of each and every one of us is a matter of choice, not chance, it has to be worked for but not waited for. Am sure many might wonder...mmmh! so what has a movie got to do with attending a high “profile session”?

Hahaha! Allow me...a lot of youths, professionals and entrepreneurs turned up in large numbers! Clearly shows Kenya has an extreme great of hardworking potential achievers with stretching ambitions. Well, knowledge is power, content is king!

The desire to fulfill potential should be what gets us to wake up every morning and we should make effort to get better every so often. The Bible says, `Be ready at all times to answer anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you, but do it with gentleness and respect."

We’re reminded so often that nothing is impossible if you put your mind in it. Always be loyal and have integrity. Our greatest weakness lies in giving up and the most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

So I spotted an old friend who introduced me to Mind-speak forum a year ago and we had lots to catch up with over a sumptuous late lunch after the forum ended. We talked about Dr. Naikuni, a formed CEO of Kenya Airways who spoke to us in the same forum last year. He reminds us not to be ashamed to fail, wake up, dust ourselves and move on. At some point in your life you must decide whether you want to impress people or influence people. You can impress people from a distance, but you must get close to influence them, and when you do that, they will be able to see your flaws. That's okay. The most essential quality for leadership is not perfection, but credibility.

Don’t wait for someone to empower you and spoon feed you, grab the opportunity and reach for your dreams.

As I sipped my second glass of wine while listening to soft Arabic music playing on the background, a young lady interrupted me, and requested to use my phone power charge. I gladly gave it to her and continued with my writing.

It’s a weekend after all so am not worried about mother traffic and its daily hoola baloo, a bit relaxed! 3rd glass of wine? No thank you! I need something eat!

So where was I? I won't write much today but rather save the rest of my thoughts for my next blog.

I leave you with this inspirational pic. Watch, reflect and think about it

Too  much wind? Bad weather? Sick? Your  arguments are invalid! You never know how close you are, Never give up on your dreams!

Time to place my order, am starving already! Forget about the carbs, it’s my cheat day! Will take care of the calories on Monday! that’s all for today J
