FAREWELL, BUT NOT GOODBYE!

Whenever there is a story of great accomplishment, there is a mentor as part of it. Today I am thinking of one small moment of extreme kindness. We all have made incredible journeys in life, tales of failure, struggles and victories. At some point in life we have all overcome incredible odds to get to where we are now although still work in progress. Always think of these stories as we look out for those who have mentored many. Apart from my weight loss journey stories, I also love writing posts about people I meet, both men and women who have inspiring stories and ambitions.
I’ve had many mentors in my professional life who have driven my motivation and imagination, merely by their examples. If we are lucky enough, we count them as friends, but more aptly, we call them out mentors.
Am extremely humbled to have had this incredible opportunity to have worked with a very amazing and hardworking lady! Allow me to mention one of themJ

Dear Anne,
You have taught me everything about everything! Where do I even start!
I’d like to share one memorable quote you told to me. This was sometime in 2012. We were taking a stroll after lunch and happened to be catching up about life in general; (work and personal development)
These words are still memorable and my daily mantra to date.
“You can be anything you want to be. Your identity is not in who others think you should be, what you should say, and how you should act. Express yourself, follow your passions, and don’t change for others unless it’s for greater good”
Anne, these were your exact words and well...I listened and I take great pride and pleasure that I’ve been able to apply this mantra.
It’s sad that you are leaving but at the same time happy that you’re on the move to a much greater opportunity. Who will forget the networking events you’ve encouraged many of us to attend, the main focus being empowerment and advancements in workplaces, perspectives on personal branding etc. Quite useful forums and grateful for your reminder always J
There’s value in daily contact, value in watching someone over time. Know that sometimes we do things without even knowing we are touching other people, and that’s exactly what you have been. I am very fortunate to have both men and women who have guided me and that to me is exactly the competition we all should aspire to have, but always be in competition with yourself. Always raise the bar for yourself! I believe the best thing about a mentor is that they’re not someone who tells you what to do, but instead they let you have your own experience and a good role model. You look at their choices and that inspires you to be unique.

Dear Carolyne,
I have so much to say about you! You have mentored me too with your words and deeds, allow me to put my words on hold for my future post about you J
Always a pleasure interacting with you J
So long, farewell but not good bye and Congratulations ! While we will miss you and have fond memories of working with you, we wish you well and hope you attain all the success you deserve. Your loyalty and work ethics have been an inspiration to us all.
